A Peek into High School 3D Printing Design Classes

‘Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.’ - Steve Jobs

Collaboration, communication and creativity are words that come to mind with the current high school team design project. Students are tasked to design a way to support plastic filament spools for the fab labs three new 3D printers.

Giving students this challenge allows students to use the engineering design process which aligns perfectly with the school’s move toward project based learning (PBL). Students also are engaging with computer aided design (CAD) software for developmental work and are utilizing the laser cutter for prototyping.
