In celebration of the upcoming International Reading Month, our school librarians and teachers have organized many activities in March to celebrate the occasion, and to encourage our students to love and continue to read. The overall arching theme is ‘Blast Off with Reading’.
On Friday, March 5th, 2021 the celebrations kicked off with a book character dress day and parade by elementary students. Many students came to school dressed up as their favorite book character and joined in a parade after the morning assembly. The parade was led by our school orchestra marching band. The parade culminated with a photo-shoot of student groups by grade levels in the school library for students
Other activities scheduled through the month include door decorating activities, a bookmark contest design, mystery readers’ week, a book drive to benefit the Mercy Centre, flashlight Friday, reading rocket, and the Vocabulary Parade.
Happy Reading Month!
