Glimpses of Teachers’ Professional Development at ASB (November 15, 2021)

Professional Development at ASB is key for the school and the teachers’ development, so a number of days are set aside each year for this. Monday, November 15th, 2021 was one of these PD days. The day started with coffee and socializing in the safety of the playground, before everyone headed up to the auditorium for the opening.

After that the faculty broke off to work on the school’s WASC action plan with their Focus Groups - which are: School Processes, Procedures, and Reporting; Teaching and Learning; Literacy; Child Safety; Student Support Team (SST); ELL; Technology; Staff Culture; Co-Curricular Activities and Athletics; and Thai Language and Culture

After the first session, faculty members attended ‘Department Sessions’ and collaborated with their colleagues in planning, preparations for events and other matters within their teaching departments.

During the final two hours of the day, ASB teachers then participated in two more workshops, namely Restorative Justice and the Power of Inquiry (from Kath Murdoch).

All in all it was a productive day, with many elements of professional development addressed.
